Notes- Making and Summary Writing Tips

  1. Read the passage carefully.
  2. Underline/ highlight the same points, related/ focused on the similar aspect with one colour- for example, points with focus on temperature, highlight in red; water shortage in blue and so on.( The points may be spread across the passage- they need to read as one point!)
  3. The similar points must be combined, clubbed and collated. (The 3 C’s)
  4. No credit is given for the similar points expressed as different points.
  5. However, every different point must be given separately; clearly identified and written clearly.
  6. Write each point as a fragment; as few words as possible to make meaningful sense/ not complete sentences.
  7. There MUST be NO details, data, examples etc./only the gist of the point.
  8. There should be no repetition at all.
  9. In NOTE-MAKING, you may use the words given in the passage; better to change/ the same words are acceptable though in note-making.
  10. A total of 15 POINTS is a MUST.
  11. Arrange them in the right order of priority/(when you use the same colour to highlight/ number them at the same time)
  12. A systematic organisation is very important.
  13. ABSOLUTELY necessary/MANDATORY/OBLIGATORY to stick to the WORD LIMIT Given.
SUMMARY-WRITING:
  1. Use the given points in NOTE-MAKING to write the summary.
  2. A good/ perfect note- making automatically leads to a GOOD/PERFECT SUMMARY!
  3. MOST IMPORTANT TO REPLACE EACH DIFFICULT WORD WITH OWN WORDS. DO NOT REPEAT THE WORDS GIVEN IN THE ORIGINAL PASSAGE- for example- old for ancient/ important for significant/ change for transformation etc.
  4. Write the SUMMARY as a continuous paragraph, without splitting into parts.
  5. MUST FOLLOW THE GIVEN WORD LIMIT VERY STRICTLY/MUST NOT EXCEED/ NEGATIVE MARKING FOR EXCEEDING
5.  All the points taken down in NOTE-MAKING MUST be included.
6.  The SUMMARY generally comprises 1/3rd the length of the original   passage.
-NOTE: A GOOD PRELIMINARY WORK FROM THE FIRST STEP WILL LEAD YOU ON TO A GOOD SUMMARY.
-USE NO UNNECESSARY WORDS/ BE CONCISE/ TO THE POINT/PERFECTLY FOCUSED.
-DO AWAY WITH ALL UNNECESSARY WORDS/EXPRESSIONS.

“Will Online Learning Replace the Traditional Universities in India in a Few Years?”

Image result for online teachingIn higher education change is inevitable and online courses are growing at fast rate. Online teaching offers continuous education session 24/7 throughout the year. It provides new opportunities for teaching, students are engaged and student’s learning process enhances. In this era nobody wants to stay behind. Each and every person are struggling to be at the top. In a time when all totters are busy and snug with latest technology whether it’s the I-pad, laptop or mobile as with a pen or crayons or paints.
Here the question is whether online learning will replace the traditional universities in India or not! According to the survey India’s online Education market size is expected to grow to $ 40 billion by 2017.
In traditional university many problems are found and with passage of time the fees are increasing, tough entrance test competition and idea to go to cities and get education has built a great pressure but saying that online teaching will replace the traditional universities in India within few year or in upcoming time is just not possible.
As we know well that everything has its own advantages and disadvantages so like that even online teaching and traditional universities have too. we know well that time and tested method, socialize in a better manner, over all development comes from meeting people face to face and experiencing practical situations. We get chance to meet new people with new culture and ideas and get to know each other. All round development comes from going to colleges and universities. If we have doubt in particular subject or at particular points we can clear it with our teacher face to face. After getting the degree no company or institute offers us high profile job on the spot, they demand experience and experience comes from doing practical things and not just sitting in front of the computer and getting it.
Yes, no doubt now traditional universities are providing at least one courses online but that doesn’t mean that these online courses will replace the universities. Online learning can change the classroom learning method. Now people need not sacrifice their dreams, they can in fact enroll themselves into online courses as per their convenience. 90% employers consider online degrees as good as traditional learning. Students who are shy, those who have not understood the lesson can check it again online anytime anywhere and can access digital written materials and recorded lectures as per their convenience.

With speeding time students are demanding online classes facilities for better quality higher education degrees but it doesn’t mean it will replace the traditional universities in fact it will help them to work more fast and with progressing result. In fact, we can say that the blend of online teaching and traditional universities will become a boon for the society and students will be free from the mediocre teachers and it will be a supplement for teaching aids.

Utilise the Summer vacation

Summers have arrived and the best part about it is – summer holidays. You must have got your summer holiday calendars already and started with building the plans to enjoy it.  We have listed 5 things you must do this summer to make it unforgettable.
1 – Enjoy Watersports
The water looks no sweeter in any other season than summers. Make sure you plan a pool party or visit the nearest water park. Splash some water and cool off the summer heat. In case you are planning a beach holiday, do include boating, canoeing, waterskiing, snorkeling or diving on your list or simply add swimming, water aerobics, aqua jogging to your fitness regime.

2- Read your Favorite Book
Summer break is the time of the year that gives you plenty of ‘me time’ for yourself. Use it wisely to pick up a relaxing spot and read all that you couldn’t because of the hectic school-home-tuition-school routine. Start with books from your favorite authors or indulge in reading the newspaper every day to better your vocab and reading skills. Also, summer reading would give you the calmness you were missing during all those busy days.

3- Make a Fitness Regime
You always blamed the hectic schedule for not working out, didn’t you? Now is the time to take out some time and dedicate it to your fitness. Join a Yoga class, do some meditation or simply go for a brisk walk/jog early in the morning. You can also indulge in dancing, synchronized swimming, aerobics or gymnastics to enjoy while you work out to keep yourself fit.

4- Go Crafty
Summers bring along a lot of creativity with itself. Also, you have a lot of time to explore your creative side during this time. Do plan on creating or recreating something by putting your creative cap on. Try upcycling some old and discarded stuff to give them a new look and make them decorative!

5 – Enrich Your Skills
Summer is a good time to learn something extra. Enroll yourself at a hobby center to learn a new skill or just hone your skills a bit more. We understand summer makes you lazy of going out of your home, why to worry in this era of WWW. Take up an online summer course that would not only help you learn something new but would be a good utilization of lazy summer days. See the detail below.
